Last week of May we celebrated a fun and lively graduation party for our summer school students, ages 2 to 7 years old. We started off with a few simple and short acknowledgments, then quickly went to the beautiful presentations that the teachers had so carefully planned with the 42 students.
The children had been placed in 3 groups according to age and comprehension level, with Ellen, Lynn and Joy as their teachers and coaches. The goal, as usual, was to help the children learn to read and identify letters, numbers and shapes. We were very happy with the progress made, and many of the parents acknowledged their appreciation and gratitude. Here is an inspiring testimony: One of the women that came to bring her grandchildren to the STEPS summer classes didn't know how to help her grand kids because she herself didn't know how to read. But after a few weeks, along with the children, learned the alphabet and has started to read!
Here are some few pictures, and if you have a little more time, please scroll down to see the few video clips.
