STEPS Progressive

A new program initiative since January 2020: STEPS Progressive is a program to further ensure the reading progress of students in primary school. After first assessing each student of grades 1 - 3 (around 300 children) in the local primary school in Doljo, we are now teaching them phonics 4 times a week. We are using many banners, audios and other tools in the classes. We are now in our 3rd week (end of Jan 2020), and already see great progress. Even some of the previous non-readers are now able to identify letters and sounds!

The progress is astounding! After only 1 week of practicing phonics drills, they are able to double the reading speed and have better pronunciation.

STEPS Phonics

STEPS Phonics Program: In previous years we helped enhance the reading and spelling skills of the local elementary students by teaching them phonics on computers. Our specialized classroom consisted of 8 computers and 16 headphones and while being assisted, the children went through educational software to improve the pupils grammar, word order, vocabulary and spelling skills and help develop their phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary and text comprehension.
