It has been almost a month since we experienced a tragic fire incident that occurred on May 24, 2021, but that has not stopped us from continuing to extend our help to our community. The fire destroyed our mission school building, but the flames in our hearts continue to shine for others. In fact, it leads us to open many doors of new beginnings. The tragedy of the fire left a big impression on our teens in the mission, Jhea and Khael, which led them to the idea of gathering teens in the community to volunteer, serve, meet for Bible sharing, and learn academically. It is the beginning of what will hopefully be a lasting and meaningful initiative to help local youth develop a love for God and for their fellow man!
Yesterday, June 16, 2021, our SMYC (STEPS MISSION YOUTH CLUB) conducted its very first activity, which was a feeding program for 150 children. It meant planning, preparing and cooking the meal, inviting the children, working out the venue, preparing some games and activities with the children, etc. Indeed, it was a very meaningful and successful day for everyone involved, namely our teenagers Jhea and Khael, our teachers Ellen, Grace and Joyjoy and the young people involved. It is also due to all the people behind the scenes, those who made their financial contribution and who helped us make this event a reality. We look forward to doing more activities in the coming weeks.
We are very happy to have achieved a good start for the SMYC organization because ''Education and support of our YOUTH is the best investment for a successful future.'' Let's continue to spread the love and impact the world positively despite all the negativity we are facing.
