“HUNGER” one word composed of 6 letters, as simple as that but a ballooning issue here in the Philippines and around the globe affecting millions of people. Especially nowadays that many of the working parents lost their jobs, so supporting their family’s needs is a real struggle on day-to-day basis. We all know that food is one of the basic needs of every humankind, unluckily many young children have to suffer in this field. Due to pandemic, food prices have skyrocketed in local markets, and we see in the neighborhood the families that are affected so much with hunger that they have to wait for the “ayuda” a government assistance or any private sectors. It is a sad a reality but at some point, we can always make a difference in little ways we can do by feeding food to the empty stomach of our dear children.
The SMYC representatives, Jhea and Khael continued their feeding program together with the STEPS teachers in some areas of Panglao last July 16, 2021. They were able to give their “Benignit” or porridge with vegetables to 400 kids in five designated areas of Panglao. Healthy food matters a lot to kid’s body build up strong immune system amidst the pandemic. We are so happy doing this as a response to this crisis.
