On April 4 was our 8th STEPS preschool graduation since we moved to Bohol at the end of 2011; it was the first time this year that we taught 3 school groups, henceforth this year we had the biggest number of graduates.
Most of the 47 preschool graduates read fluently. Mind you, about two thirds of the children are 4 years or younger! Besides reading, the children also learned the names and sounds of letters, how to write their name, numbers and the letters of the alphabet, counting, shapes and colours.
Our advanced group has learned phonics, addition, subtraction, multiplication and writing as well as reading, and in all our groups we emphasize character-building lessons.
During the month of March we repeated all of the material the children learned throughout the year. Below you see some volunteers helping us to read with the children.
